Hazelrigg Industries has launched the VDP, a handcrafted two-channel vacuum tube microphone preamp and DI built in the USA. The VDP features an all-tube signal path with transformer-coupled input and output stages, combining classic tube circuitry with modern reliability.

The VDP follows the design philosophy associated with D.W. Fearn and draws from the tube preamp and power design of the VT series. It offers a distinct Hazelrigg character with cleaner headroom, lower noise, and +63 dB of gain, providing support for ribbon microphones, condenser microphones, dynamic microphones, and direct instrument sources.

Front-panel Mic and DI inputs allow quick access during tracking, while rear XLR inputs support permanent studio patching. The VDP also includes a high-pass filter, -20 dB pad, polarity reversal, and a locking +48V phantom power switch inspired by DWF aircraft-style controls.

Key specifications include a frequency response of ±0.6 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, THD under 0.5% from 15 Hz to 15 kHz, a minimum signal-to-noise ratio of 74 dB, and a low-Z transformer-balanced output. The tube complement includes two 6072A and two 12AT7 low-noise selected tubes.
