The ML-2A from Slate Digital is a small-diaphragm condenser microphone designed to bring professional-level versatility and detail to any studio or location recording setup. As part of the Virtual Microphone System (VMS), the ML-2A gives users access to a wide library of modeled microphones, vintage, modern, and rare, directly within their DAW.

Sold as a factory-matched pair, the ML-2A microphones are built with a gold-sputtered capsule and low-noise electronics, offering clean, transparent capture across a wide frequency range. With stable cardioid polar patterns and a rugged design, they’re suited for demanding recording environments.
Key hardware features include a -20dB pad for high-SPL sources and an 80Hz bass roll-off switch, providing control directly at the mic. The ML-2A handles up to 156dB SPL while maintaining a low 16dB self-noise, ensuring clarity even with loud instruments.

Included with the mic is access to 27 microphone models through Slate Digital’s VMS software. These include popular studio staples like the S-57 and S-421, ribbon and tube mics such as the S-121 and S-67, and small-diaphragm condensers like the S-451. Users can blend two mic models for custom tone shaping and enhance coloration using the Virtual Preamps Collection.
Each ML-2A pair comes with a stereo mounting bar and matching serial numbers for accurate stereo capture. The mic also comes with a three-month Complete Access Bundle subscription, unlocking over 150 plug-ins from Slate Digital, Solid State Logic, and Harrison Audio, along with sample libraries and mastering tools.

As Slate Digital continues to expand the mic model library, new models are added through software updates, making the ML-2A a long-term tool for flexible, professional-grade recording across a wide range of sources.
