Released today, the TASCAM RX-BT10MKII is a compact professional Bluetooth audio receiver designed to connect smartphones, tablets, and computers to existing sound systems. It combines Bluetooth 5.1 Class 1 operation with balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA outputs, making it suitable for studios, venues, conference rooms, hospitality installations, classrooms, and other fixed audio environments.

The RX-BT10MKII is built for situations where consumer Bluetooth adapters are not practical. Its metal enclosure, professional connections, front-panel level control, installation hardware, and remote pairing support give integrators and operators more control over how wireless audio is added to a system.

Bluetooth 5.1 With Class 1 Transmission

The RX-BT10MKII uses Bluetooth 5.1 with Class 1 output. TASCAM specifies an estimated unobstructed transmission range of approximately 100 metres, although the actual distance depends on the connected device, surrounding environment, and radio conditions.

This distinction matters in larger rooms and installed systems. A Class 1 receiver can support longer-distance operation, but the final range is still limited by the lower-powered device in the connection. For example, a Class 2 smartphone with an estimated 10-metre range will generally determine the practical transmission distance.

The receiver supports A2DP for audio streaming and AVRCP for basic playback control. SBC and AAC codecs are supported, with the appropriate codec selected automatically according to the source device and connection conditions.

Balanced and Unbalanced Outputs

The rear panel provides both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA stereo outputs. This allows the RX-BT10MKII to connect directly to mixers, powered speakers, amplifiers, DSP systems, and other line-level equipment.

A rear-panel switch changes the output between stereo and summed L+R mono. This is useful in distributed audio systems, single-speaker installations, paging environments, or any application where stereo playback is unnecessary.

Practical Front-Panel Control

The front panel keeps everyday operation straightforward. A dedicated pairing button places the receiver into pairing mode, while the adjacent indicator flashes during pairing and remains lit after a connection is established.

A large output level knob adjusts the receiver’s analogue output level. Bluetooth source volume must still be controlled from the connected phone, tablet, or computer, giving the operator two stages of level adjustment.

The RX-BT10MKII automatically attempts to reconnect to the most recently connected Bluetooth device when powered on. It can store pairing information for up to eight devices. Pairing a ninth device removes the oldest stored pairing.

Remote Pairing for Installed Systems

A front-panel Euroblock connector allows the pairing control to be extended using a commercially available two-wire momentary push switch. This makes it possible to place a pairing button at a lectern, wall plate, control desk, or another accessible location while keeping the receiver installed elsewhere.

This is particularly useful in meeting rooms, classrooms, hospitality systems, and shared spaces where users need simple access to Bluetooth pairing without touching the equipment rack.

Custom Bluetooth Device Names

The Bluetooth name displayed on connected devices can be changed using the TASCAM Bluetooth Name Editor for Windows. Names can contain between 1 and 20 printable ASCII characters.

Custom naming is useful when several receivers are installed in nearby rooms. Each unit can be labelled according to its location, such as Control Room, Conference A, Lounge, or Studio B, reducing confusion during pairing.

Flexible Installation Options

The RX-BT10MKII includes a pair of installation brackets and six mounting screws. The brackets can be configured to secure the receiver on top of a desk or underneath a work surface.

For rack installations, the unit is compatible with the optional TASCAM AK-RS1 rack shelf. The shelf can hold two compatible compact units, with the equipment positioned toward either the front or rear of the rack.

The included Bluetooth antenna connects to the front panel and can be extended using a commercially available RP-SMA cable. TASCAM specifies a 50-ohm antenna cable with a maximum length of 20 metres. This allows the antenna to be repositioned when the receiver is mounted inside a rack or behind furniture.

Compact Size and Low Power Consumption

The receiver measures 171 by 45 by 73 millimetres, excluding protrusions, and weighs 530 grams. Power consumption is rated at 1.7 watts.

TASCAM includes the PS-M1524 AC adapter, an AC power cord, the Bluetooth antenna, installation brackets, mounting screws, a Euroblock plug, and the required documentation. A rear-panel cord holder helps prevent accidental disconnection of the power supply.
