Description

The Rupert Neve Designs 542 Tape Emulator Plug-in brings the character of the company’s acclaimed hardware tape emulator into a flexible software format. Designed to add the warmth, texture, and harmonic richness associated with analog tape, it gives producers, engineers, and musicians an easy way to shape digital recordings with more color and musical character.

Based on Rupert Neve Designs’ unique tape saturation circuit, the 542 also includes a soft-clipper for smoothing harsh or aggressive sources, along with the company’s Silk Red and Silk Blue harmonic saturation options for additional tonal shaping. The plug-in can be used to add subtle analog character or more noticeable saturation across individual tracks, groups, or a mix.

Developed in collaboration with McDSP, the 542 Tape Emulator Plug-in supports AAX, AU, and VST3 formats and runs natively on Intel and Apple silicon processors. It is compatible with a wide range of major DAWs, making the distinctive sound of Rupert Neve Designs’ tape-emulation hardware available directly inside modern recording and mixing workflows.
