Description

The LBDI (Lunch Box DI) is a fully tube-based, Class A direct box and instrument preamp designed for musicians and engineers who want portable access to classic tube tone. Built into a compact lunchbox-style chassis with a sturdy chromed handle, it’s suited for live performance and studio work alike. Its all-tube signal path, powered by a high-voltage 320V supply, delivers harmonic richness, fast transient response, and ample headroom. The design avoids common compromises found in starved plate circuits, allowing the 12AU7 tube to operate at full Class A potential for a more dynamic and natural sound.

The LBDI offers flexible tone shaping through a switchable High/Low gain input stage, dual gain controls, and a three-band tube EQ that can be bypassed when needed. A Bright switch, tied to the input gain, adjusts frequency balance intelligently as levels change. The unit also features a dedicated reamp input for processing line-level tracks through its analog circuitry, adding warmth and depth to previously recorded material. Additional functions include a phase switch, ground lift, front Thru connection, and -20 dB output pad. With rugged build quality and premium components throughout, the LBDI serves as a versatile solution for guitars, basses, synthesizers, keyboards, and high-impedance microphones.
