ADAM Audio Expands Its Pro Subwoofer Range with the New Sub8 Pro and Sub10 Pro

ADAM Audio has expanded its professional monitoring lineup with the new Sub8 Pro and Sub10 Pro, two DSP-powered subwoofers designed for stereo, multichannel, and immersive monitoring systems. Both models combine powerful Class D amplification with advanced bass management, network control, Sonarworks calibration support, and professional analog and digital connectivity.

Two New Options for Professional Monitoring

The Sub8 PRO is the more compact of the two new models, using a high-excursion 8-inch woofer with an FEA-optimized bass reflex port. Its compact dimensions make it particularly well suited to smaller control rooms, desktop monitoring systems, and setups where space is limited without giving up the control expected from a professional subwoofer.

For systems that require greater low-frequency extension and output, the Sub10 PRO steps up to a high-excursion 10-inch woofer. It is designed to provide a solid low-frequency foundation for both stereo and multichannel monitoring while retaining the same DSP, networking, and bass-management capabilities found in the Sub8 PRO.

Advanced Control with ADAM Control

Both new subwoofers connect to ADAM Control over Ethernet, allowing their settings to be managed remotely from a computer. Users can adjust equalization, phase, level, and delay from the listening position rather than reaching behind the subwoofer every time a change is required.

ADAM Control also provides four bands of parametric EQ and precise time-alignment tools. Multiple compatible ADAM Audio monitors and subwoofers can be managed together, making the system particularly useful when configuring larger monitoring installations. Firmware updates are also handled through ADAM Control, allowing additional functionality to be added over time.

Sonarworks SoundID Reference Integration

The Sub8 PRO and Sub10 PRO are designed to complement ADAM Audio's A Series monitors and include support for calibration filters created with Sonarworks SoundID Reference.

After measuring a room with SoundID Reference and a compatible measurement microphone, calibration profiles can be loaded directly onto the subwoofer's DSP platform. This makes it possible to calibrate complete stereo or multichannel systems without relying on the calibration software remaining active on the monitoring computer.

Ready for Stereo and Immersive Audio

Both models provide three operating modes to suit different monitoring configurations.

Stereo mode handles conventional 2.1 monitoring and bass management. LFE mode uses a dedicated 120 Hz cutoff intended for immersive workflows such as Dolby Atmos. Wide mode allows the subwoofer to operate full range, giving engineers greater flexibility when bass management and filtering are being handled elsewhere in the signal chain.

Professional Analog and Digital Connectivity

The Sub8 PRO and Sub10 PRO provide balanced analog inputs through two XLR/TRS combination connectors and balanced XLR outputs. AES3 digital input and output are also included, supporting two channels of digital audio at up to 24-bit resolution and 96 kHz.

A dedicated footswitch connection can be used to bypass bass management, which can be particularly useful when checking a mix with and without the subwoofer engaged.

Flexible Bass Management

Four selectable crossover frequencies are available at 70, 85, 100, and 115 Hz, providing several options for integrating the subwoofers with different monitor sizes and room configurations. Phase adjustment, level control, input selection, and operational modes can be accessed directly from the rear panel or managed through the network.

Sub8 PRO

The Sub8 PRO uses an 8-inch woofer and reaches down to 30 Hz at -3 dB, with a -6 dB response extending to 26 Hz. Its amplifier delivers 200 watts RMS and 325 watts peak, giving compact monitoring systems considerably more low-frequency capability while keeping the enclosure relatively manageable at 15.2 x 11.8 x 14.4 inches.

Sub10 PRO

The Sub10 PRO uses a larger 10-inch woofer and extends its -3 dB frequency response down to 22 Hz, with a -6 dB response reaching 21 Hz. Like the Sub8 PRO, it uses a 200-watt RMS and 325-watt peak amplifier. Its larger cabinet measures 17.7 x 14.2 x 17.7 inches and provides additional low-frequency extension for larger stereo and multichannel configurations.

FEA-Optimized Bass Ports

ADAM Audio used Finite Element Analysis to optimize the geometry of the bass reflex ports. The modelling process helped determine the curvature, flare, and effective port length needed to maintain more consistent airflow and reduce turbulence at higher output levels.

The cabinets are constructed from vibration-resistant MDF and include internal bracing around the port. Steel grilles protect the woofers, an especially practical feature when the subwoofers are positioned underneath a desk or console.

A Natural Extension of the ADAM Audio A Series

The Sub8 PRO and Sub10 PRO bring ADAM Audio's networked monitoring approach into the low-frequency section of the system. Their combination of ADAM Control, SoundID Reference compatibility, digital AES3 connectivity, detailed bass management, and immersive audio modes makes them particularly interesting for studios building complete A Series monitoring systems.

The Sub8 PRO provides a compact option for smaller rooms and systems, while the Sub10 PRO offers deeper extension and greater low-frequency capability for larger stereo and multichannel configurations.
