Description

The Soyuz Lakeside is a single-channel Class-A microphone preamp designed to add depth, warmth, and character to recordings while maintaining professional clarity and control. Built with fully discrete circuitry and custom-wound transformers on both the input and output stages, the Lakeside delivers a rich, musical tone that enhances vocals, instruments, and line-level sources. Its sonic character is inspired by classic analog studio equipment while offering the reliability and headroom expected in modern recording environments.

The preamp features a stepped input gain control ranging from 10 to 60 dB in 5 dB increments, allowing precise adjustment of signal level and saturation. An output trim control provides smooth level balancing into the next stage of the signal chain, making it easy to dial in either clean headroom or more driven harmonic character. A front-panel 1/4-inch DI input expands the unit’s versatility, allowing direct connection of instruments such as bass guitars, electric guitars, synthesizers, and drum machines.

For additional tone shaping, the Lakeside includes a custom inductor-based high-pass filter with selectable cutoff points between 40 Hz and 330 Hz. This filter removes low-frequency rumble while adding a subtle musical resonance that helps refine the captured sound without losing its natural character. With its intuitive layout, the Lakeside encourages quick adjustments and creative experimentation during recording.

Engineered for studio reliability, the Lakeside offers a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz (±0.5 dB) with exceptionally low noise and high output headroom. It supports both microphones and instruments with a 1.2 kΩ microphone input impedance and over 1 MΩ DI input impedance, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of sources. Housed in a rugged rackmount chassis, the Lakeside combines classic analog tone with modern precision, making it a distinctive addition to any professional recording setup.
