Description

Royer R-12 is an active ribbon microphone for studio recording and live sound, here as a matched pair. Matched pairs of Royer mics are consecutively serial numbered and shipped together as a perfect match, so a pair suits stereo recording such as drum overheads, acoustic piano and room miking.

The R-12 uses the same 2.5-micron ribbon element found in Royer’s legendary R-121 microphone. A switchable -15dB pad gives excellent headroom for louder program material, while onboard active electronics increase output level for quieter sources such as acoustic instruments and vocals. A switchable high pass filter reduces low end proximity buildup.

The ribbon sits in an internally shock-mounted transducer that helps protect it and reduces handling noise, and a built-in triple-layer windscreen is included in the design.
